Where the rates come from
Each price comes from the insurer itself: its published rate tables and brochures, or its own online quote tool.
We enter each rate as the insurer gives it. The comparison then prices your age, province and family from those tables.
How they’re dated
Every rate table records the insurer’s effective date, or the day we read the prices from the insurer’s quote tool.
Research pages show the date their rates were recorded.
Exact or not shown
Health, dental and drug plan prices are monthly premiums, to the cent, as the insurer’s tables give them.
We never estimate, average or project a price. If we can’t source a number, we leave it out.
What we don’t do
We don’t recommend plans. Plans are ranked by price alone.
Insurers don’t pay to be listed or to rank higher.
Your own price can differ: age, province, family, health answers and start date change it. The insurer’s documents govern.
How the site is paid
Comparing is free, and your price is the same however you apply. If you apply through our links, the insurer pays our licensed advisors a commission or referral fee. Some insurers pay us nothing, and we show their plans anyway.
Tell us and we’ll check it against the insurer’s own document. Report a problem
